A Placed Space

“In a space that is already highly conditioned on itself, it is an interesting challenge to try to create an artwork that has the qualities of a truly autonomous spatial experience. One that is free and open, and allows you to see at, through and possibly beyond the imposed conditions of that reality. 

What would make this situation even more complex is to place a completely different space, as an existing object, in that same space (One that is also highly conditioned, but in a very different way) and then to make a work for this new situation with the same aim.

In essence, this was my contribution to the ‘Ultimate Playground’ project at Kunstenlab; a site-specific artwork designed for the ruins of a temporary mobile office unit of a construction site, now placed in an exhibition space that used to be a factory”

“Ultimate Playground” was a series of exhibitions by Kunstenlab (NL), where artists were invited to create a dream project, a work they had never been able to make before and always wanted to do.
